“The greatest barrier to success is the fear of failure.”
Sven Goran Eriksson
Have you already met Katie from Running on Happiness? If not, finish reading this post, please 🙂 and then pop over to her fabulous blog. Not only has this girl an amazing sense of style, she’s very intelligent, funny and inspiring as well. And on top of it all, she’s a real beauty. Would be very easy to hate her for all that 🙂 But she’s so nice that you simply have to like her!
One thing I love the most about Katie’s blog is that she not only shows off her fabulous slender figure in some seriously stylish outfits. Katie also writes. And by “writes” I mean, she shares more than the details of her outfit and where she bought it. She shares her thoughts on life, love and happiness, that always make me stop and think for a little while. And that’s exactly what happened to me yesterday. I was scrolling through Running on Happiness when I stumbled upon a post named “Fierce vs. Fearse”. And it got me thinking about fear. The fear that appears in the life of every girl. Fear of not being good enough, fear of the failure. Why is that sometimes I am just so afraid to be myself?
Just think about your last week. How much time did you spend living on autopilot, going through motions, rushing through your daily routine without really giving it a thought? If you’re anything like me, then the answer is, too much. And then, think about the moments you spent doing what you really love. What fulfills you. Can’t remember any? Scary, I know.
Having fear is natural. But letting the fear stop you from living the life you’ve been dreaming about, is not. Life is too short not to dream and attempt to fulfill your dreams. I just needed this reminder to stop and think about my own life. And I had to admit to myself that I was afraid too often. Afraid of what people would think. Afraid of what would happen if I decided to drop everything and start to fulfill my own dreams. Wondering if I am even good enough to make those dreams happen. And then I asked myself: “Who could I be without that fear?”
Life is a choice. And happiness is a choice. Happiness is not something that will drop into your lap while you´re waiting for it patiently in your corner. You have the power to make yourself happy. The only thing you have to do is to change your attitude and pursue your dreams. Don’t wait until “someday” to do that. Do it now. Today is the day and now is the time. Don’t let your inner fear and “what ifs” control you. I know this doesn’t happen overnight. Letting go of your fear is an ongoing process. But if you have a really strong motivation, you can do whatever you decide.
Inspired by all those wise words, I’ve decided to try and explore better my dreams and pursue my happiness. I am willing to leave my comfort zone and I don’t want to play always safe. I don’t know where this will lead me, but I´m ready to take the risk. Will you join me on my journey?
