Inspired by: Wanderlust

I seem to have the severest case of wanderlust this morning, and seeing Arizona Muse romp around Paris in the prettiest Louis Vuitton garments does nothing to quench my thirst for traveling. I guess it’s time to pull out my vintage globe, make it turn and plant my finger into my next dream destination!
Where would you go if you could pack your bag this very moment and to whichever place in the world?

In my quest for putting a little more glamour into my everyday wardrobe choices, I’ve stumbled upon this beautiful editorial, and I was instantly enamored. No one does elegant and slightly dramatic glamour better than the Italian designers and these photos are a tribute to their skills and dexterity when it comes to clean shapes, luxurious fabrics, statement jewelry and classy accessories.
I think it’s best to let the images speak for themselves and then diligently take notes.

Inspired by: In Paris with Anthropologie

You know that everything that pertains to Paris always sets my heart aflutter, so when I first laid my eyes on the Anthropologie October lookbook, I was immediately lost. The Parisian chic and that proverbial and elusive je ne sais quoi is captured in every single photo. I can’t help but feel inspired by all those ladylike coats, flowy and lace dresses, casual wide-leg pants and adorable prints. Now, if only I could pack all these clothes into one giant suitcase, and transplant myself to Paris right this moment… That would be chic!

Dreaming of Tiffany…

Images via Smartologie
Holly Golightly: You know those days when you get the mean reds?
Paul Varjak: The mean reds, you mean like the blues?
Holly Golightly: No. The blues are because you’re getting fat and maybe it’s been raining too long, you’re just sad that’s all. The mean reds are horrible. Suddenly you’re afraid and you don’t know what you’re afraid of. Do you ever get that feeling?
Paul Varjak: Sure.
Holly Golightly: Well, when I get it the only thing that does any good is to jump in a cab and go to Tiffany’s. Calms me down right away. The quietness and the proud look of it; nothing very bad could happen to you there. If I could find a real-life place that’d make me feel like Tiffany’s, then – then I’d buy some furniture and give the cat a name!
Everybody needs a little Tiffany’s in their lives, right?
Happy Friday!

Inspired by: Dior Cruise 2014 Collection

Images via Style.com
It doesn’t happen often that I become so enamored with a runway collection that I want to reach out through my laptop screen, tear every single outfit from the model’s body and stuff it into my own closet. But that’s exactly what happened with Christian Dior Cruiset 2014 collection. It’s no secret that I’m pretty much obsessed with every single thing Raf Simons designs. I believe that he’s doing such a wonderful job modernizing this venerable old couture house, that even Mr. Dior himself would approve. His feminine, structured and simple silhouettes are so refreshing after those crazy Galliano years (whose work, to be honest, I never really liked).
This resort collection, which was presented in Monte Carlo, is nothing short of fabulous, stunning and glamorous. It’s all about feminine silhouettes , models are draped in silky asymmetrical dresses, the trousers are perfectly tailored, the lace details and pieces couldn’t be more delicate and the classic colors like black and white are livened up with pops of bright orange, fuchsia or blue Klein. It also seems that peplum is definitely here to stay, which makes me really happy.
This is definitely my favorite resort 2014 show (alongside the always fabulous Oscar de la Renta), and I strongly recommend you watch it on the video: seeing the models move, the dresses float around their bodies and the colors swivel in front of your eyes, makes for a perfectly enchanting experience.  Be prepared to be inspired.

Inspired by: The Great Glamour

Images via Madame Figaro
The Great Gatsby fever is rising. Daisy, Jay and Nick are practically everywhere, and there’s no reason Macarons and Pearls should be an exception. After all, what’s not to love? I only recently read the book for the first time, and I loved it so much! Baz Luhrmann is one of my favorite directors (Moulin Rouge is still my favorite movie of all times) and I believe he is the perfect fit to turn this classic novel into a breathtaking movie. His collaboration with Miuccia Prada is a match made in sartorial heaven. And this editorial was just too good not to share.
I’ve been feeling really inspired by 20’s fashion lately. I’ve always had a faiblesse for sparkle and glamour, but I’m also sensible to the deeper associations these years evoke: what’s with the women being finally able to assume their independence and live a life they wanted (minus the heavy smoking, perhaps, which is so not chic at any time). Now let’s be honest: I’m not going to go all flapper on you anytime soon. Flapper dresses will never look great on my hourglass shape: they’re looking that much more fabulous on boyish figures. Plus, costumes and carnavals have never been my thing, and I’m not one to walk around in a complete disguise. I’m all for adopting new (or old) trends, but moderation is key. A touch of glitter here, a pair of art deco earrings there or a decorative box clutch to add a vintage feel to my little black dress. I would also gladly adopt this patterned pencil skit, pairing it with a simple silk blouse, or a classic white tee for a more relaxed vibe. In the end, it’s all about making a trend work for you, not the other way round.
Will you be adding a touch of 20’s glamour to your own wardrobe?
